Awesome Northerns! Where did they come from?

FRoberts Sep 03, 2007 12:55 PM

The bloodlines are from 4 different sources....Split Rock Reptiles, Home Grown herps, Staten Island Serpents...and one private breeder in Alabama...mostly non local snakes...with all breeders except one claiming they originate from a bloodline from NJ from way back in the day...regardless of what I was told ( grain of salt mentality on my part ) they are jet black and white and unrelated to each other and very impressive animals.

Very nice group of Northerns..........nothing but screamers in that bunch.

A question for you Black pine keepers. Anyone ever grow one in excess of 7 feet? I've been under the impression that lodingi are like ruthveni, in that they don't ever approach the lengths of melanoleucus and mugitus. Having grown up in Miami, I had several Indigo's as a kid. I am really partial to big black snakes. If someone has a pic of a monster Black pine, how about a pic.

I have seen a few that where about 6 feet....nothing bigger...they may exist...the also get heavily bodied when they get older...
