Salvator eggs

Bloodbat Aug 20, 2003 11:53 PM

More eggs. 10 that my nephew (3.5 years old) and I dug up. Not sure what the hatch rate will be on these. I had to leave the male in the room longer than I wanted, and she was not happy about that (her laying suffers when he is in there too long). The substrate was also a bit drier than usual (this may or may not be of any importance). Finally, a 3.5 year old nephew does not quite have the same concept of "gentle" as I do. lol. Ah well. He loved digging them up and the look on his face for each egg was priceless(I also have quite the collection of freshly caught grasshoppers, crickets, and other assorted insects he found in the yard all sitting in a plastic animal container. lol). Since I already have 2 other clutches cooking (12-14 eggs), I figure losing a few to his enthusiasm is no big loss. We shall see in 200 days.

Congratulations Bat, you are a rare breed indeed. So few water monitor owners actually even attempt to breed them, and you've done it successfully now repeatedly. I only hope the eggs are good and the ones in the cooker hatch fairly well.

Just think, you might actually be able to sell multiple babies to people who can raise CBB salvators together and carry the baton.

I'm envious, i hope i can pick your brain (ie swipe some of your know-how) in the years to come regarding salvator breeding.

Good job, and good luck with the eggs.

Good job, Paul. Hey, I can't seem to get my bearded dragons from dropping eggs. BUT! I have found away to take care of the problem of incubating eggs - my finicky v. doreanus consumed the whole clutch

Let us know when the salvator eggs hatch.
