Questions on rococo toads

solfugid Aug 21, 2003 12:36 AM

How big do males get and how big do females eat? What do they eat in captivity? Also, I read that toads dont have any teeth, so if you fed a big rococo toad a mouse or some thing, how would it kill it? Thanks in advance.

1. Males may reach 6" long, while females may reach 10" long.

2. If the food moves, they'll eat it basically. I've offered with success the following: Dusted crickets from time to time, nightcrawlers, June bugs, spiders, hissing cockroaches, and superworms. So far, she's not turned up her nose to anything live. Doubtful if she'll ever see a mouse though.

3. Trust me, their jaws are powerful enough to do the job killing anything they eat. One or two swift smacks usually does the trick.

I actually have a marine toad which is close to a Rococco toad and yes they eat anything that moves. I been feeding my cicadas the past month every 4 days because right now they are so abundant. plus also you gotta remember when they eat they try and smash there food with there eyes and tummy after swallowing what ever they ate.
