No. Pine and cedar and all oily woods tend to cause severe respiratory illness. Put your face down into a pile of that stuff and breathe in...then imagining breathing that with every breath for the rest of your life. You'd get ill too.

Aspen is fine, many people use it. It is not oily and aromatic like pine and cedar.

ok good. i have many ball pythons and i need something that i can buy in bulk at local petstores.

JenHarrison Sep 03, 2007 08:56 PM

A cheaper and easier alternative would be to use newspaper or unprinted newspaper.

If you've got many ball pytons already, what are you currently using?

they are in there own tanks on cypress mulch and my younger are on carpet. i just bought a ball rack and want to use something cheaper and in a large quantities. would shredded newsparer be okay?

It wouldn't be very absorbent and they would push it out of the way and pee directly on the plastic tubs. Go with regular flat newspaper or unprinted newspaper. It's cheap and easy to change out when soiled.

Also, if you've got plenty of ball pythons already, you certainly don't wnat to buy your bedding supplies at a pet store, you'll pay WAYYY too much. Look into feed stores.
