feeding on aspen ?

fatscales Sep 03, 2007 09:21 PM

hey everybody, now i take my snakes out when its feeding time to get them off the aspen just to be safe. one of my snakes just wont eat if i take him out for some reason, he will eat in his tank just fine, but once i move him no go its very odd. ive left him with the mouse for a day out of the tank and nothing, but half a day back in the tank-the mouse is gone. the only problem is the bedding, i know aspen can lead to the snake being impacted anyone have any advise for me?

Assuming that you are feeding f/t, lay the food item inside the cage on a plastic coffee can lid or a small plastic dish(I save those small black plastic microwave trays......they also make good hides for juvies). This may solve your problem for your shy feeder.

Ditto, except I just use a piece of paper towel to put the f/t mouse/rat on, and leave it be so the snake doesn't feel the need to drag it back inside it's hide to eat on the aspen...

I rip the paper towel big enough to cover the front of the sterilite for privacy.
