Interesting pattern...

I wonder if it will prove genetic or not?

I'm going to say....
YES!!
It will turn out to be genetic.
I sort of like to be optimistic about these things.
Only time will tell Jeff! Good luck with that project! like you dont have enough already! Big Jim

I heard from someone locally here in Jax that you ended up with that boa. I can't wait till it proves out for ya! Looking forward to more pics!
How'd the video of the boa forums turn out?

That's the Boa Ryan, that I asked in an email if you had seen it on Sunday at the big snake party. I was vague about it, like normal, but asked if you saw the Boa I bought that had my name on it.

Jeff - from the first pictures you posted of that guy I was reminded of this striped pure longicauda that came out of my 06 litter

I know your snake is not a longicauda, but do you know the background? Mark
WOW !!! I would take that BCL over 2-3 of that other animal
Best of Luck at proving that genetic ......
Now back to throwing flowers at Ronne LOL!!
WOW !!

What is the lineage? Aka, Locale info?
If it is Colombian, I'm willing to bet it is Genetic.
If it is another locale, or a cross, I think it is just the result of selective breeding/ multiple captive generations and not genetic. Now that would still be heritable, just not straight line recessive/co-dom/dom mutation.

Colombian Boa:

Talk about no "Saddle Points"! His saddles don't even touch the thick black connectors on the sides. See that this light line between the saddles and that black connector? Very strange. From the top the saddles are little squares and the dorsal sections between saddles are rectagles. I have never seen anything like it. The thick black connectors reminded me of "Tribal Tattoos" or Tribal Art I have seen that uses a lot of black ink. Hence; the "Tribal Boa".
First we have to see if it is genetic. Then if we are fortunate and it is genetic, we'll see if there is a super. But then, what will a super look like? It's fun to dream about.
I still am not sure what the best thing would be to breed him to. Who knows?

Jeff,
Thats a great looking snake ... of course I have no idea why you are asking anyone what to breed him with as your "da man " when it comes to Boa breeding !! However since you did ask, I would breed him with a nice Pastel to enhance the color but not mix up the pattern ... a hypo/ salmon would diminish the saddles too much and any other pattern mutation (jungle, motley, aztec, etc) would mess the pattern as well.
All the best, that sure is a great future project.
cheers, John
