Mating..

AndrewFromSoCal Sep 05, 2007 10:56 AM

Do Crested Geckos mate year around, or is there a season for them? They've got a male in with a few females in at one of the local stores, one of those females which I was going to purchase.

Is there a chance i'll get a knocked up female?

My understanding, from what I've read (not experience, haven't had them long enough) is that cresties will mate year round to the point of harming themselves if given the chance. They'll probably mate more in the summer if it's warm, but I hear the only way to get them to stop breeding is to cool the cage down to the 60s or so.

So yes, unless they're in a very cool cage or the male prefers the company of gentleman geckos, you have a good chance of getting a female carrying fertilized eggs.
