ROCKY MOUNTAIN NEWS (Denver, Colorado) 28 August 07 Lamp suspected, snake dies in Glenwood fire
Glenwood Springs: Investigators said a heat lamp for a pet snake may have sparked a fire that heavily damaged a home here and killed the snake.
The fire broke out a little before 2 p.m. Monday at the home of veterinarians Lori Pohm and Bob Thorsen.
Firefighters extinguished the blaze in about 10 minutes, but damage was estimated at about $150,000. A cat was also believed to have gotten out of the home and run away.
The couple's three children, three dogs and another cat were all at the vet clinic when the fire broke out and no one was hurt.
Fire Chief Mike Piper said two circuit breakers that had been tripped led authorities to focus on the heat lamp as a possible factor in the blaze.
