Pine Snakes in the wild

Hi, I'm mainly a Kingsnake and Indigo guy. But I do like other snakes as well especially Norhtern Pines. I just moved within their (small) natural range in North Carolina. Any chance that I may see one in the wild during September or October (maybe hatchlings)if I go out and look for them? Or is spring and early summer the only good time to see them?
FYI: I did see a 3Ft DOR in early June (aprox 11am on a cool PC day) this year in NC. It was unfortunate that I got there just a few minutes too late!
