Finally a Blizzard

RussBates Sep 05, 2007 07:59 PM

Well for those of you who don't know me I am a die hard pit fan dressed in Thayeri clothes. I don't post on this forum much becasue I've cut way down on my pits but I still keep an eye on you guys all the same.

I have been trying to produce Blizzard sonorans for three years using mostly prime adults that I purchased along the way. My first year breeding them was 2005 and I had statistically great results but my hopes were quickly dashed once I realized all hatchlings were dead in the egg. Actually had 3 blizzards and 3 hybinos that year all dead. In 2006 I bred a triple het to Sunglow triple het and got 7.5 (varied mix of sunglows and normals). Well this year I bred a ghost to a triple het and whamo...I hit the jackpot as I got all morphs in one clutch and they appear to be healthy though not completely out of the egg.

I'll be sure to post pics once they are out. Glad I didn't give up on these guys because as a few of you guys have pointed out before Sonorans are awesome.

These Sonorans can be tricky with the genetics. In previous years Ghosts were few and far between here and my male IS a Ghost. This year I produced tons of them. I like all the morphs so it is never dissappointing but we all have our faves we hope to see in a clutch Tom Stevens
