Weight of a C. Collaris Hatchling?

kellybee Sep 06, 2007 07:24 AM

Hi I have one thats not growing very much, I'm not sure if he is just naturally small, or if he is going to sprout roots and have a growth spurt later on, lol.

Anyway, I was wondering, what would you say is a normal weight for a hatchling C. Collaris, my little fella in now 8grams, and I'm guessing 5 to 6 weeks old. When I weighed him I though to myself: my goodness if he is 8grams and definitely over a month old what does a newborn weigh !!

I only have one collared to base it on, but when Rorschach came to me at 12 weeks old, she was 8g. And you know what a chub she turned out to be!

When we caught Celeste in May, she weighed 7 grams, and she was a hatchling last fall. I can't imagine my babies weighing more than a couple of grams. They are, for sure, much lighter than a nickel, which weighs 5 grams. We have a scale on order and our hatchlings will be a 2-3 weeks old when it arrives; we can let you know what they weigh then.

We may have all come on different ships, but we're in the same boat now.
