I've got a young female normal blood who's almost a year old. When I bought her, she couldn't have been a foot long and was quite thin. But, even then, as docile as could be. Now she's gobbling up every F/T rat I give her without pause, and her colors just keep brightening up with each shed. She's got a bright, grey head and a kind of a carmel-brown coloration with those fantastic yellow tail spots. She's never hissed or tried to strike, and she even seems to tolerate the occasional mist of water.
If mine is anything like most CB bloods, these are best snakes around! Less finicky than a ball, as pretty as a retic and more sane than some of the arboreal varieties I read about. And, even after lots of years, you don't end up with anaconda sizing. A big snake in a small package.
What's not to love?!
I'm also glad that this forum still offers some good information for us new guys to try. Some forums seem like endless discussions of morphology or the latest race to the ultra such and such, with little conversation of husbandry and just plain, well, snake love. I know there are all sorts of reasons why people are into snakes, but the simple joy of owning and watching them is definitely my deal.
Anyway, glad I'm part of this group!
