Desert Iggys

emvee Sep 06, 2007 07:34 PM

I haven't really popped my head in the forum lately, but for those who may recall. I received two absolutely wonderful and beautiful female desert iguanas from steve bozsik. I figured now that I have finished moving back down to southern cal and that i finally have a bit of time to run amuck on the net, I would give you an update on them.

These two desert iguanas(beefcake and zoidberg) have more character than some people lol. They are so much fun to just watch. I used to hate mornings and now they are delightful since i get to wake up staring straight at two inquisitive faces peering back at me. I wish I could of got a video or picture of zoidberg "stalking" a fly that made its way into the cage while i was spotcleaning. She looked like a bumbling cat. I have never fed them anything but veggies/prickly pair fruits but she seemed to want that fly more than anything(maybe except wild mustard flowers). She is completely mental for those flowers.

I am actually due to receive a male to accompany my two females tommorow morning from somebody named tony in fla. Hopefully all of that turns out well. I will be keeping them in different cages but next to each other for a few days/until he appears to be healthy.

I should be posting some pictures of them soon plus the new guy(no name yet).

Hope all of you and yours are doing well,
Matt

Glad your having so much fun and enjoying the iggys they are a very cool lizard for sure Matt. I have a male (Hershey) and he's quite a character.

He mostly free roams, but sure seems to know when it's chow time, he follows me, and the salad bowl from cage to cage, he seems to know the routine, who I feed, where I will sit the bowl down next, hehehehhee, and even stands on the side of the bowl and snitches a few hunks of carrot/ greens while I'm dishing it out to someone else. Then it's the last stop, his pile, and he dives in. I agree, they are enjoyable to watch.
**Post some pics , be waiting
