Well I don't know what caused it but my corn snake used to do the same thing. He was a very well tempered snake but sometimes he would get real defensive for no reason. He would rattle his tail against things and act very out of character. Like i said I'm not sure what caused it and it was only random times. I just chalked it up to snake mood swings, if there is such a thing Fortunately after being picked up he always settled back down and went back to his normal easy going self.

Thinking back on it now though it did always seem to happen after a shed. Maybe he was still just stressed from the ordeal of tearing his own flesh off? Who knows, too bad they can't talk to tell us.

let him just bite your a-- and learn that you ain't going away no matter what kind of attitude he has. Go teach him a lesson right now Timmay. I would pick him up about 3-4 times a day for a few minutes with no movement around you at first and not trying to transfer hands with him either just letting him settle in on you so to speak. But don't put him back up and five minutes later go get him again which I know you wouldn't do but maybe wait like an hour or so but beware of the consequences

lol Tim cuz it might get erased lol again for that

Sankes are sensitive after they shed. On TV there was a show on two people (both expert snake handlers) bit by Cobra's and both snakes had just shed.

I find my BRB's to be very tempermental while digesting their food. They also like to strike when in shed and they can not see.

Also, Mickey bit me for the first time a couple of weeks ago while I was trying to get his picture just after he shed - I knew he was grumpy and since he had always been so docile I probably pushed to much trying to get a picture.

Kepp track and it will be interesting to see if his temper is only just after shed.

after my poor baby yakko died of IBD I get totally suspicious every time a snake is acting dramatically weird. Have you completely discounted the possibility of mental diseases, IBD, etc...
