I was woundering if any of you know why my iguana way be starting to bite now. when i first got him a year ago he was all ready about a foot long the owners that had him didnt want him and wer afraid of him i got him at about 6 months old, and like any other iguanas ive held that are new he would just wip me i try to spend time with him every day but its hard with work and school, I usually spend at the least an 1 hour with him holding him. have an ideas why this might be or how i can turn him away from it.

well if your sure its a male he is probably in breeding season time and they can be very aggresive at this time.I am not sure how you would prevent this as in my house there have only been 2 iguanas.one called donna the igauna that was my stepdads and boy was she nasty.she would tail whip once and if that didnt work shed go right to biting and my step dad had some bad bites from her but she was 4-5 ft.then I got a iguana and it was a male but in the 2 years(until I had to give him up)I had it it never bit me and only occasionally tail whipped at other people so it might just be your iguanas personality to.Im not an expert at this, but this is my oppinion on this subject.

i saw an episode of nature and a guy named harry lizardlover (he changed his name) said that he got lots of ques. on why they were biting and he explained that iquanus will bite because they think u r a male a iguana and will try to take u out of its territory the way to solve tis is to slowly bring it with another male so it can get used to having another male iguana(you) in the house. be careful theres a chance it might not work. and should always keep the 2 a distance apart like one in one room and one in the other with some sort of protective clear thing. dont completly rely on this.
