Regurgitating Gecko

skotos82 Sep 07, 2007 08:30 AM

I have a 16 month old leopard gecko that has been healthy her entire life. However, last week I noticed that she regurgitated a skin shed bundle and then a mass of undigested mealworms a few days later. She hasn't eaten for 4 days now (at least I didn't see her eat.) She hasn't lost any weight. I'm hoping it's not crypto or some aweful thing. Her temperatures are fine and her cage is really clean. Any ideas what could cause the regurgitation? I read through Ron Tremper's book and it looks like it could be a few different things. Give me your thoughts. Thanks in advance!

Scott

it could possibly be parasites .. i would think deffently shes not feeling good if she reguratated ?

how big is she ? are you giving her the right size mealies ? and or crickets
how hot are your temps ?
have you ever taken a stool ( poop ) to the vet for parasite testings ? ... just thought's

good luck

Thanks for the response. She is currently 46 grams. She is being fed 1" gut loaded mealworms. Cool side of the enclosure is about 75 degrees. The warm side is maintained at a constant 90 degrees with an UTH and a thermostat. Taking her to the vet this weekend . . . if I can find a qualified one in my area.

Anyone else have thoughts or similar experiences?

I cant really help you i never had one throw up i just know its never a good thing ? .

can you show a picture ?? possibly is her tail skinny or does she eat normally all the time with no problems ?
what kind of substrat do you have ?? tile paper towel? sand sand is never good to use... could cause impaction

Sounds like she may have just overeaten, if she threw up a bunch of mealies and a full skin. A vet visit certainly won't hurt, good for you for jumping right on it. If you do go, make sure you bring a stool sample with you.
