Baby Red Eyed Tree Frog

grantguy Aug 21, 2003 08:41 AM

My girlfriend just got her first baby red eyed tree frog. We're concerned because he is so small. She's had him for 1 day and 1/2, and he hasn't eaten any of the small crickets we've offered. Are they too big for him to eat? If he doesn't eat any of these what are alternative feeding suggestions? Thanks.

It depends on just how small the frog is and how small your crickets are. A very tiny RETF will probably eat very tiny crickets. Pinheads, probably.

Also, they're really fussy about their eating habits and usuaully won't eat if it's not absolutely dark and so on. They don't like being bothered, and you still have to give it time to settle in. They're very delicate frogs, so please go and research everything you can because a baby one might not be too easy to keep!
