OT - My non-BRB snakes

run26neys Sep 07, 2007 03:31 PM

Here are all of my non-BRB’s that I have.

First off is Stripes a normal male California King snake. I can that this guy for my interest in BRB’s. As a family we went to a show as my step-daughter wanted a normal California king snake, and at this show is when I purchased my first BRB.

Next up (and last) is my trio of spotted pythons. I had always liked snakes and wanted to get some. After doing tons of research I figured spotted pythons would be the best option. My wife’s only rule is that I could not get anything that could eat/harm small children. I selected the spotted python’s for their size and the fact that they do not lose their color like children’s pythons – and they cost less than Stimpon’s and Anthill Pythons. Plus, Ball pythons don't seem to interest me.

First up is Leopard a male who is the first snake I bought. I did get it from an ad on KS, but know nothing else about it. I bought it as a Cape York spotted python, but who knows as there are probably very few true Cape York’s in the US. In fact there has been a lot of interbreeding among three of the small python species (Children’s, Spotted and Stimpson’s).

Once I found out that Leopard was male, I decided to get a female for him. When I found a female I decided to get two as the shipping cost as much as a single snake. This is Spotdot - the one I bought to split the shipping costs. I had planned on trying to sell her right away, but once she arrived I feel she may be the better of the two females.

Last is Malificent. She is the one I thought was amazing by looking at the pics when I bought her. She is still very interesting, as her markings make me think she has some Stimpon’s python blood in her. She was named because for the first month we had her she would bite me and my wife over and over again as we tried to get her used to being handled. I think the first couple of times I handled her she would bite between 20 and 30 times in a couple of minutes (thank goodness she was small and caused no pain)! My wife still does not like to handle her, even though she has calmed down and has not bitten for 4 to 5 months.

Mike,
...Great PICs and information. I have always thought of Spotted Pythons as the Pythons that are most like Rainbow Boas.

When will you have babies??????

I am actually looking for up to 5 really good normal BRB females yet this year. I will get them from more than one sorce, as I want total freedom in pariring down the road.

I am also interesting in getting more special brbs too.

LOL, DO NOT get me started.......should already be here. Driving me absolutely nuts!!!!!

Planning on going to Anaheim tomorrow, leaving in the wee hours of the morning. Probably all will be born while I'm away from home with the camera

I've got a local show in two weeks and right now I only have a few misc boas and 2.0 het hypo BRB's to sell. Table will be pretty barren if I don't drop some babies in the next couple of days. Plus I have a long wait list so many might get snatched up before the show even if they do come right now. I've got several females that look like they're ready to explode!!

Not to worry for those folks on the wait list, I won't forget you and I definately won't be taking the cream of any litter to the show, will save the best back for my wait list peeps!!

Dave, be sure and get some good pics of this weekends show for those of us who never go to any good ones. I'm sure there'll be plenty of awsome stuff to photograph and I also know that there are plans to "unveil" some new rosy morphs there so if you happen to see them snap a few shots for me.

Great looking snakes. I do think the first pictured female is better looking but there is something to be said about the second as well. And the male is quite a lucky guy to have two lady friends

Ooohh... pretty snakies! I really like the spots on Malificent. Hopefully she'll calm down and stop biting.

Stripes is pretty cool too. He might like to get to know one of these crazy looking ladies. LOL
