Red Savannah??

kristin Aug 21, 2003 09:42 AM

.. i was chatting w/ someone online the other day who 'claims' to have bred a 'red' savannah. she claimed that it must've been a recessive trait in the parents. she showed me a bad pic, and i could see a mere tint of red, but for all i know it could've been photoshopp'd. she was from the u.k. i believe and didn't seem too bright, if u catch my drift.
so my question is.. does anyone know if this is even possible? are savs sometimes born w/ slight color variances?
i'm not into monitors yet, i'm more into tegus and snakes. but i thought it was a humorous claim. what do u think?
thanks -kristin

Bosc monitors come in many different color hues. Some are light and almost white, some are white, some are yellow, some more red, orange, green etc. What i have never seen is a total green as in iguana colored or a total red as in niger uromastyx colored. They only have color hues or tints of color variation throughout the body.

Hope this helps
