ANAHEIM - the good, the bad and the ugly

toshamc Sep 08, 2007 06:56 PM

The Good!!!

The weather was nice - parking not too bad and the crowd was light in the morning - grew steadily thru the day and was pretty diverse - found myself explaining basic genetics to an old couple who brought their grandkids. Lots of kids this year - the future looks bright. Saw lots of people who had their first table this year - congrats to you all!! Beer line was shorter than usual - of course I left by 2:00 so perhaps later in the day it became worse.

The Bad!!!

Where were all the ball pythons???? Serious props to The Snakekeeper, BHB and Camlon for representing!!!! We West Coasters appreciate that you recognize us as a market and made an effort to show up to our show!!! Heard lots of not so great ball python care advice being given out – by people who were clearly only behind the table in a helper capacity. No Super Lori Ball!!!! Some of you guys behind the table were more willing to chit chat with the teenager who clearly was only going to buy a leopard gecko and gawk at the pretty snakes all day long then the middle age woman with a credit card in serious need of maxing out.

Now the Ugly!!!!! (my bad photography)

BHB:

Camlon:

Sorry I don't remember whos tables these were on:

Johns Jungle

David Thompson Reptiles

The Image Reptiles

Dragon Herptile

The Snake Keeper

Zeppa Reptiles

Dwayne Richard (albinoballpython.com)

I think this caramel pin was on BHBs table

Chondro Coalition

The Token Angolan – I think this was Isis Reptiles.

This was just kind of neat

Rustys Balls – had some nice lookin stuff – sweet albinos and a pin that I might pick up if she’s still there tomorrow.

Stuff with legs:

One last chondro:

Every time I went by this table people were standing around gawking and up in arms that the snake had eaten his roommate – were you fooled???

Props to Tony Bocanegra (sorry if I spelled it wrong) for taking time out to encourage some young’ns to hold a baby snake. I wish the sable pictures I took at his table weren’t so blurry I would have loved to post them.

Sadly most of what I was hoping to bring home wasn’t available – so I brought home this little guy that really caught my eye. Will probably do some more purchasing tomorrow.

Hope everyone had a good time!!!! See ya tomorrow!

I was at the expo around 11 this morning. You're right, there wasn't many ball pythons there this year. But the ball pythons that were there were amazing. I didn't get to take many pics because there was (as you said) several people there chit-chatting away with the many children that attended. But here are pics of the two males I picked up from Camlon Reptiles.

Here is the 'o5 Classic Jungle I picked up from Camlon today.

Here he is with one of his 'o6 offspring I picked up last year from Camlon.

Now here is the 'o7 male Mojave I picked up today.

Thanks for sharing those pics! I really like the Super Pastel Yellowbelly and of course the Killer Clown that I somehow missed seeing in Daytona.

Thanks for the pics Tosha! It was great seeing what was on the tables at Anaheim.

As to being ignored, I know where you're coming from girlfriend. It's so frustrating to walk up to a table and the person start trying to sell my hubby a snake. While he is definately a part of the business, he does not do the buying. Sorta funny to watch when he tells thme to talk to me. Of course with old friends who I've dealt with before, they know . . .

Make sure you tell what you pic up tomorrow. I like the little boy you bought today! He's wicked.

Nice report! Now, what did you get? How many breakfasts in bed are you going to have to make your hubby to cover all you spent?? Did you see that Home Depot commercial where the delivery truck showed up with all the appliances and the wife had the recording about the golf clubs?

Now if that's not a funny coincidence I don't know what is.

Your frogs were awesome, I saw you there and you were showing off your frogs to a family. :D Nice display!

Sam - my apologies - I was trying real hard to get a banner shot prior to pictures so I knew what belonged to who - but there were a few that I spaced on I was hoping to get back on Sunday to correct that - but my son was ill and I couldn't make it back. I absolutely loved those frogs!!!!

hi tosha
no problem at all i love these little frogs and they were a big hit at the show.
i wish you ladies have told me who you were i know you guys from here but dont know how and what everyone look like would have been nice .
i didnt take any of my ball pythons would have been a waist of time toi compete against all the big guys so i stuck to my frogs and im happy doing so i had alot of fun at the show for the 3rd year in the row can't wait for next year.
and about saterday no one was in a goodmood cause most of them they were tired from the night before you should seen them after a night of drinking and resting.
hope to see you guys next year.

Yep those Malayan Leaf Frogs were being sold by GBU Enterprises! (GBU = The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly)
Thanks for posting all the pics!

I'd like to add - when I got there sunday, some vendors seemed irritated, of all things, that I was asking about their snakes. Okay, I'm a 20 year old female college student...but that doesn't mean I wasn't looking to purchase a snake! It was definately very frustrating.

I don't remember who the vendor was, but a wonderful man spoke to me for a while about keeping blood pythons and even showed me the size tub I'd want to use. Huge props, especially since I'd told him from the start I couldn't afford one at the time, I just wanted one really bad.

And Thank You to Brian and Lori for the cute little pastel I got from them.

I was gonna post my own pics of the show but Tosha you got all the good ones by getting there saturday! :D
