What in the world are these snakes?!?!

Dexter6185 Sep 09, 2007 02:40 AM

My friend purchased these two snakes as "Canadian garter snakes" however we both are quite familiar w/ North American snakes and we cannot figure out what the heck these are. They apparently have been sustained on a diet of fish and earthworms which leads us to believe they are some species of semi-aquatic snake, specifically a garter or ribbon snake, but they do not compliment any photos of the northern-most species of garters or ribbons found in NA.

Anal is undivided, scales are semi-keeled, in 18-19 rows.

Those are a small indonesian colubrid, often sold as "asian garters" or "indonesian garters". I forget the genus name, but they can be kept like regular garters.
