Did not know they got this big! Pic from Prehistoric Pets, Jay and Patrick have some killer animals! Big Jim

A big one.
A good friend had a rescue argus that was owned by an Unidentified pro-football player. The poor guy was in great shape other than the dog bite scars on his back.
He was a big argus, he was 5ft long and 16 lbs after he was brought down to a healthy weight from almost 20 lbs.
My friend had some interesting animals come into his rescue.
My flaviargus is as big as that one.
That one appears to be female, they dont get more than 3ft or so.
After looking at the picture again I take that back in fact, my flaviargus is noticeably larger than that argus, about a foot longer. Of course the guy in the picture must be very short by looking at the cages in the background.
please post pics of your cross. It must have grown a lot since the last time you posted pics of it, because as I recall your cross was about half the size of that panoptes.
That one posted is about the same size as mine, and mine weighs about 12Lbs. I'm pretty sure females don't get that big
cheers
Camera by a short guy.
Its definitely not a big argus. Look at the STV length on his arm, and compare that, unless he wears size 20 shoes thats an average size argus, a female (foot size compares directly to forearm length in humans)
My flavi-argus is 4ft long, I havent taken many newer pictures of him in a long time. I found one that survived my computer crashing, in it he was 45 inches, for refernce Sobek is sitting in front of him (shes huge so it just shows how much smaller he is.) In fact most of the pictures I took of him were back not long after getting him, he was 3ft long then.

Somewhere I have pictures of a big argus next to Sobek, and of his owner holding him, not close to the camera either, a 5ft argus, one thats 16 lbs (we actually weighed him with a digital scale).
Ill see what I can do about getting a newer pic soon, still fixing my computer, lol.
I understand that may not be the biggest, I've seen huge Argus as well. Some over 30Lbs(granted it was fat), but it's still pretty big. And length isn't a good way to measure size. My old female maxed out at 40 inches and tipped the scale at about 4.5Lbs when she was gravid. A mature male at that length would almost double that weight.
compare that Argus with my male. I would say that one from PH Pets is just a little bit bigger than mine, and the one in my picture is about 4ft and weighs about 12Lbs.

cheers
And your arms are about average length, your argus seems to be longer STV than that one posted originally.
Of course If you held that argus in your picture (the same way as the original posted pic)nose pointed close to the camera it would look much larger, try it once. Ive seen that trick pulled in sales adds before for websites selling reptiles, and petstores, in person the animal is probably about 3-4ft long by looking at it.
Yours seems to be about the size of my flaviargus, notice the nose and head shape on yours, and the nose on his posted pic, notice the tail, and a few other features. Someone on here fell for that kind of picture posted once in an add on the classifieds, they posted pics after getting the animal, it was almost half the size they thought it was.
As far as weight goes, a 30 lb argus would be a BLIMP, a serious BLIMP, shaped like a basketball at 5ft. Thats only a few lbs lighter than Sobek is (shes 6.5ft plus). At 5ft and 16 lbs the big argus a friend had was just a bit fat. His smaller argus were around 3-3.5ft and only about 3-5lbs at most.
I dont think my flavi-argus is more than 7.5 lbs at 4ft long, a guess, but a very close one.
Heres 5ft of whitethroat (trying to find older pictures on disc).

5ft of argus with 3ft of argus.

Hi Jim, Yes, argus get large. I have seen panoptes over 2 meters and much much bigger then Jays argus. Their front paws, were as large as my hand and of course longer.
I have seen argus in the 5 1/2 foot area. But not nearly the size of V.p.panoptes.
I would guess that one is about five feet and is plenty big. I know Jay and hes not tiny. hes about average in height and stocky.
If you see him, ask him about the time a Burm bit him in the crotch. That story will bring tears to your eyes. One of the best stories you will hear. Cheers
