Quaratine question

Solaris16 Sep 09, 2007 06:09 PM

Hi,

I currently have a corn snake, and on the weekend am getting a bull snake and a hog island boa.

Are there viruses/illnesses that can be passed between various species, or are most of the things we quarantine against species specific?

I unfortunately have to keep all three snakes in the same room, though obviously in their own enclosures. None of them will be using any of the same supplies, and I will wash well/sterilize between handling.

Any thoughts?

Wendy

Your biggest concern will be mites.
If your animals are free of mites and housed separately, your risk is pretty low of anything being passed along between them.

Most parasites are passed from mites, prey, are crawling through fecal matter.
