Cal King - Black belly?

waspinator421 Sep 09, 2007 06:24 PM

I had some Cal Kings hatch recently, and two are quite interesting. They are both very aberrant, but one has a black belly. I've never seen this on a Cal King before... how common is it?

This other one is just plain cool.... both are females.

Thanks!

Not common, especially with bandeds, but with aberrancies and stripers...it occurs enough.

I hatched out a small clutch of Calis this year with pretty much the same thing. 2 had mostly white bellies, the other 2 had almost solid brown/black bellies. Interstingly enough, my hatchlings looked very similar to yours.(sorry no belly shots)

These first 2 had mostly white bellies with a few flecks of black/brown here and there........

The following 2 had mostly brown bellies......

I hatch out Cals w/solid black bellies all the time so it's not too rare. More common in the yellow/brownish "coastal" banana types I suppose.
This year the coolest CK I hatched had a solid black belly.
Once I turned her upside down and showed it off..gone!
It is a beautiful snake.

and one of these stripers has a solid belly too. They are much cleaner now and the "white" has turned yellow.

The pattern on that one is gorgeous! I wonder if you could get that pattern with a lavender.

Beautiful snakes. Beautiful photos! I like the black belly. You can sing that 'Black Betty' song to him, singing belly instead of betty of course. At least that's the sort of thing we would do in our house...
