Finally some results...

After a very late start on the breeding season I saw some snouts sticking out of the longissima eggs. I've got to borrow a camera for photos (mine is toast). Also this weekend I was happily surprised to find a clutch of suboc eggs. I wasn't sure she was actually going to lay at this point in the year.

John

Congrats. John! Have you had any luck with your Mandarins?
Here's one I recently snapped of last years holdback.

Jeff:
That's a real beauty you've got there!!! Congratulations. Long may that mandarin line of yours produce!

Unfortunately I lost the female I intended to breed this year at the end of brumation. Very depressing. Luckily I got involved in a breeding loan of one of my males with another guy and there were some very nice results. Later on in the year I should have some photos. That is if I ever get a working camera again. I wanted to get a nice DSLR and was saving up for it. Now it looks like I'll either have to splurge and get one ahead of time or buy a cheap point and shoot right away.
Best regards
John

Sorry to hear that. I lost a yearling coxi last week---very unhappy. How is that Vietnamese phase Mandarin doing? Did you get a pair of them?

Yeah it's tough losing the pretty ones.

The viet pair are growing like weeds. It'll be interesting to see how they turn out. That's another reason I need a camra.

John
