WHAT DO I DO??

eliotstone Sep 09, 2007 08:59 PM

Hello All:

I just got into ball pythons a couple months back, and have picked up a some normal females. About two months ago I got a big female and the guy I got them from gave me a free male. I kept these two together because I was waiting for a rack to arrive, and today I came home to find my female coiled up on a pile of eggs!!!! I assume they were breed during the time I kept them together. I don't have an incubator, but I am picking one up tomorrow. What can I do tonight to make sure the eggs don't go bad?

let the female stay on them make sure your temps are between 89-90, and if not raise them to that. you should be fine until tomorrow.

That's what Jody is talking about. Leaving the mom to tend her eggs -- you still need to maintain an ambient temp of 88-90 since mom is cold-blooded and can't magically produce warmth.

I'd leave her alone to brood the clutch until I could get an incubator set up and stabilized. I'd do what I could to increase the humidity in the cage (short of misting the actual clutch, of course), and try to raise the ambient temperature into the 85-88 degree range.
