Ball python feeding

alex_reid33 Sep 10, 2007 05:45 PM

Hey,

I just recently purchased a ball python form a pet store and he coping very well and actually ate his first night home. He is just under 3 feet and the widest part of his body is 2.5". The staff told me that he gets fed 4 adult mice but i dont know if they are big enough and its a bit of a hassle to fed him 4 prey items in a night so i was hoping somebody could please give me some info on what i can safely feed him. I thought about small rats but im not sure how big the exactly are.

Try to a (small?) rat that is about the same size around as your snake. Be forewarned tho that if the pet store was feeding him mice he may not readily accept rats.

Good luck!
