b/w dotted cal kings

snakesdjf Feb 07, 2003 11:11 PM

i have a nice looking black/white desert cal king with small white dots running dorsally from head to tail. i was wondering if i breed him to a normal b/w desert striped female cal king, is it possible that some of the offspring will be dotted cal kings, besides having mostly abberrant young. is the dotted cal king (designer morph), a tendency trait? thanks dave

and all I got was striped cal kings. Striping took over, no aberrant babies, no spotted babies. My breeding was with a black cal king with a white stripe (male) to a black cal king with white spots (female) and got ALL black with white stripes. I finally got a male spotted (2002) from Renegade Reptiles where I got my female spotted from (1998). So hopefully breeding spotted to spotted in 2004 will produce more of the same. I will post some new pics(hopefully tonight of that match).

HI KERBY, THOSE ARE SOME REALLY AWESOME PHOTOS!! ARE THE AZ MOUNTAIN KINGS ALSO FOUND IN N. AZ OR IN THE FLAGSTAFF AREA? I'M ALSO LOOKING FOR SHOVEL NOSED SNAKES, AND LEAF NOSE SNAKES, DO YOU, OR ANYONE YOU MAY KNOW BREED OR SELL THOSE?, THANKS DAVE

pyros are found all over the Prescott area. I know that Rich G. has found them in the Flagstaff area. Long-nosed snakes have been bred (not by me) like most colubrids, however leafnose snakes are hard to get to eat in captivity let alone breed.

Kerby I've heard there is a difference in the dominance with light-bellied stripers and black-bellied stripers.

WC do you know where?
I have a male that looks alot like him but he has a solid yellow belly. He's from Carlsbad and I hope to breed him with a banded female also from Carlsbad.
Will you be breeding him to any normal banded females?
It would be interesting to compare the clutches.

I got him from Brendan. Brendan caught him early last year (maybe with Fundad, not sure) in California. I will find out the exact locality. I am going to breed him to this female this year as she is my most "chocolate" cal king that I have. Obviously in the future I hope to get a female from the same locale and keep that line pure.
