But I am being sold in the classifieds as an unsexed lemon mix pastel for $1000.

I also agree with you! I emailed this person last night asking for pics of the belly and mouth but have yet to seen them. I don't think it is a Pastel either, I bet it is an Import that came in and the person thinks it is a Pastel , besides the "lemon mix" story sounds kinda fishy to me !! It is sad how so many people are trying to sell "Imitation" animals that look like but are NOT: Pastels, Classic Jungles, Axanthics,Mojave's, Cinnamon's, you name it, all this does is bring more confusion to this already complex industry. All I can say is buy from someone you trust which is generally the ones that have been in business for several years the rest of these scammers will weed themselves out in time (after enough people realize they have been taken for a ride). To find the true representatives of the Ball Pythons I recommend looking for Ball Python Specialist as opposed to the "Jack of all trades master of NONE" sellers of the world!!! They're trying to sell it on kingsnake or already sold it as a pastel. 1000 he wanted for it some guy from GA.

anthony james mc May 22, 2003 08:24 PM

Yes I think it did sell, question STILL is "IS it a Pastel?" I hope so for the buyers sake, and what about the fact that they didn't even know the sex of the hatchling, you'd think if a person knows how to breed them , they would also be able to sex them!! I guess it doesn't matter if the buyer thinks it was worth $1000 then I guess that's all that matters, I just hope it wasn't the total life savings of some young kid who thought it was a Pastel and honestly doesn't know what he just bought! All I can say is BUYER BEWARE!!!! Anthony McCain.

grimdog May 22, 2003 08:37 PM

I mean if you can breed you should be able to tell sex. Also if it is a pastel then a male would be worth around $1000 and that is in the high end or will be very high in a few months IMO. But a female sells for about $2000. I mean come on now, I feel bad for the poor sap that bought it. They might have paid high end pastel money for at the best a very low quality pastel. I don't think I would have paid $100 for that snake.

I have serious serious doubts about that snake and just like you guys said if you cant even sex an animal how are you selling it. Now we've all seen the pics of this snake, I really do not think the snake in the picture is a pastel. I for one do not think this guy sold the snake at all, more like he got a ton of e-mails telling him its not a pastel and he realized everyone on the internet was wise to him. I think there was a lot of people who e-mailed this guy because i know i did. People selling things like this need to be weeded out because they're ruining a good thing for the rest of us honest people. Kingsnake should have a little more of a screening process to let people sell things on here. E-mail him he will not e-mail you back and tell you what line its from or anything about its lineage because there is none. PLEASE be careful guys there are FLY BY NIGHTERS popping up all day long on here trying to make a quick buck on animals that arent even close to what they claim they are. I've spent a ton of money this year on animals from great breeders along with breeders spening a ton with me and ive worked very hard to get where i am now and have the freinds and references i have now. It's very sad that people ruin it for all of us who have put our lives into this and honesty to our freinds not only our customers. To see the market become such a place of choas leaves me questioning where this hobby is going next if something isn't done about it. Too many people are getting burned out there and nothing is being done about it. Just a rant sorry guys. Thanks for all the great replys at least some people are watching the world as it turns. Have a Great weekend everybody

Mike, thanks for agreeing! I also tried getting that person to send me more pics and he didn't respond! I hope your right about nobody buying "IT" because as we all seem to agree it wasn't a Pastel at all! Take care, nice post! Anthony McCain-McCain's Reptiles.

I saw the snake in question on the classifieds.
That snake was in no way shape or form a pastel.
It was a normal, an ok looking one. But absoluteley not a pastel.
I hope the poor guy/girl who bought it see's the posts here and contacts the person he/she gave $1000 to and should have only paid a max of $100.
Obviously the person who sold it either thought it was a pastel and didn't know any better, or they really scammed someone out of $1000.
