Atb w/dart frogs?

boog Sep 10, 2007 07:53 PM

I have a very nice display with an amazon tree boa in my office. I've owned him for years. The terrarium is fully planted and established. I was considering adding some poison dart frogs to the tank. I've owned them in the past, mostly tinks, but also auratus, and leukemalus (I'm sure I spelled those wrong)and know how to care for them. Is this at all possible? I've seen it done once before but I didn't ask how it all worked out. Thanks.

Yes it will work. The Atb will love them; however, would be cheaper to just feed them mice.

Good luck,
Bart

I think I've seen this done more with emeralds rather than the normal amazons. Emeralds do seem to leave most cold-blooded prey alone, and the size of an adult alone would make a dart frog an insignificant prey item. I've seen them kept with lizards and frogs before, and have been planning a large display involving emeralds and darts for some time now.

I had an anole live with an emerald for a couple of years. Never had anything with an amazon though. I would like to know though since mine (atb) just hides all the time making it a not so nice display lol. I have a 70 gallon that has many branches ranging from 5" diameter to about 1/2". Also have a fake rock background. He just likes to sit behind some on the bottom Does anyone know of anything else you can keep with an atb? Of course after they've been treated for parasites, quarantined (I've always done it for about 6 months for safety), fed seperatly etc.

don't know how it was working out, but the houston zoo housed dart frogs and emerald tree's together for years. i was told that the snakes didn't pay them any attention.
