2 quick questions about balling up and frozen mice...

folkwitch Aug 21, 2003 11:44 AM

Are there folks who have never seen their bp's ball up? The one I have had for 2 weeks curls up but has never balled...what does it all mean?

If I thaw a frozen mouse to feed him and he doesn't eat it, am I basically out of a mouse? I imagine, like other meat, you can't thaw and refreeze it...but is it safe (germ wise) to feed the refused mouse to a lizard?

Mine never balls up. It has a very bold personality, not agressive but certainly not shy. I also try to be very gentle with it and not make any sudden movements. Unfortunately I've only had mine a bit longer than you so I really don't have a good answer to your question

well i mine never balls up he just lay around himself. like coiled up, i think its ok if they dont ball up becuase they only ball up when they are scared so if he is balling up i think thats good. i dont know about the mouse i think you can just refreeze it but only once. and about feeding it to the mouse i think that as longa the snake doesnt bite it or touch it in anyway you could feed it to a lizard just rinse it off again.

the answer would be no, as the saliva has digestive enzymes in it that would most likely be toxic to the lizard....
