Best Incubator? Substrate? Opinions?

Serpents_Embrace Sep 10, 2007 10:41 PM

Hello, just curious as to what you breeders out there use to incubate? Do you build your own, or just buy one. If so which and why do you prefer it? Also what type of substrate do you use for hatching? ...has anyone tried that hatch-rite stuff, its a bit pricey but it says its the 'best' so... just thought i'd inquire. At work our Leachies had a couple of eggs, as did our cresteds but no one seemed to have a single idea as to what to do with the eggs. I did... hatch em! lol. Just looking opinions ideas whatever. Thanks in advance to any and all

Hi Carla!
Your question about incubators can vary from reptile to reptile. What might work for gecko eggs may not work python eggs. For better answers I suggest going to a specific forum section here (gecko, bearded dragon, corn snake, etc...) and asking all of the same questions.

I've heard a few people say they used & liked Hatch-Rite, and a lot of people use vermiculite or perlite and swear by them, too. I hatched some burmese python eggs earlier this year using vermiculite and was well pleased with it.

Try posting your questions in a more specific forum category for best results. You'll be glad you did.

Have a good one!
