What you guys think? Stripe Spider

Ghetto_Reptiles Sep 11, 2007 02:45 AM

A fluke or Genetic, I ended up with a normal with a full stripe as well! but both parents don't have full stripes. Anyway after his shed the white is coming in like his dad.
Please let me know your opinions...
Pics just out from his 2-month home...

I think he's neat! I've seen a couple of Spiders like that and I've always liked them.

Thanks Firestorm- Since you were the only one that reply to the post... I was just askings opinions from everybody and some of the more experience ball herpers out there. I guess he wasn't good enough to generate enough interest but for a beginner like me- I won't give up... Much success in the next breeding season, it's a jungle out there! Many thanks... PEACE...

Hey, us newbies have to stick together, lol. I think Pro Exotics has had some luck reproducing the "wild stripes". I think they posted a picture of a striped Orange Ghost a while back. If you hang on to yours and do some selective breeding, you might be able to produce more striped babies. I have a partially striped female who produced 2 partially striped babies, so I'm hoping with a little dinking I can produce a full striped baby. Of course, they were my first clutch so I was looking for an excuse to keep them.

Good luck in the upcoming season! I'm still waiting for my last clutch to hatch. I can't believe it's almost time to start again!

Thanks,
Shelly

you're in FL, too. I'm about 45mins from Tampa. Where are you?

I'm located in Miramar (broward county) but perhaps on the next Daytona expo we can meet up. I was looking to trade him for a pinstripe because I will breed the same combo next year and prove out if it's codom but the normal stripe give me a confirm feeling! love the pins ..Cool.... Thanks

Cool...it would be fun to meet up in Daytona. I like Pins, too. It seems like there have been a ton of great Pin combos produced lately. Good luck with your striped baby!

I am not saying they are but I have seen a couple of spiders het genetic stripe with a complete dorsal stripe but as for the sibling, I don't know. I think you do get a certain similarity in the offspring from the parents though.

Good Point, I also made a mistake in saying it's codom because none of the parents have a full stripe. But a sibling normal male came out with the same full stripe, which I sold. Which tells me that the stripe is recessive but different to a generic stripe. Thanks for your response... Peace...
