Breading of bearded dragons

aprilsanc Sep 11, 2007 01:02 PM

I have a question, I have had a male dwarf bearded dragon for 6 years now and I recently got another male who is about 7 months and a female who is just over a year. My dwarf is going through all the breeding rituals that I have read about the bobbing of head, waving of arm, and he is tugging at her neck constantly. Everything that I have read makes it seem like the only time for breeding is in Febuary, is this true?? or can they breed at any time?? And is this normal behavior if it isnt time for breeding?? Oh and he does it to the little male also, normal???

Thanks

Are you talking about Lawson's Dragons? Sometimes incorrectly called Rankins Dragons.

Lawson's Dragons (from what I have read since I don't own any) are not good in shared quarters. Pretty much with any reptile males should NEVER be housed together.

Generally dragons mate after brumating. In the wild this is in the winter when food is scarce. In captivity it could be at pretty much any time as breeders have proven.
