Harvey and his kind will only hurt states economy and limit Fish and Game's funding. As it's been said before he's got a personal agenda and that's the only reason he involved himself in the hunting from the road issue. When he got elected he knew nothing about wildlife and after all this time he still knows nothing. Just let him try and stop me from collecting the kielbasi snake.

wait'til they sees what i brings 'em this year!!!!!.....it ain't gonna be just this light......them that knows have taken a blood oath....to keeps quiet......i gots a good surprise for all'a youses and game wardens alike......
I remember reading a month or two ago that family vacations are down too. And last week I read that visitation to National Parks is down too. You would think herpers and the money they spend would be welcome anywhere.
I will never understand the need to segregate a group of hunters and lose revenue from license fees to fund badly needed Park reforms. The losses to small towns around said Parks will be felt for a long time, sad, really.

Actually, Texas is bucking the nationwide trend...not only are the # of hunters up in the state, but they're WAY ahead in revenue derived from license sales...this info is from the Houston Chronicle, last week. It's gonna be hard to cite decreased revenue if they're moving more licenses.
They aren't getting my money and many more people that I know. Why buy a license if you cannot hunt? Photography requires no license. I will wait and see what is needed for a breeders' permit.

Revenue from license sales is only a small part of it. The local economy from herpers staying in and spending money in the small towns is going to be significant. The "picture takers" are not going to spend two weeks there as would the collectors. At least not if they want to make a statement.

Yes, I get the difference between revenue to the state and revenue to local interests. I'm just saying, TPWD will argue that THEY aren't losing money because of HB12. If they cared about the revenue of local folks, this situation wouldn't exist in the first place.

I agree. It's a shame that the state doesn't care about the economic impact of these areas.

I was just reading an article today about some new no fishing zones that were enacted in San Luis Obispo and Montery counties, here on the central California coast. Biologists and Fish and Game were touting them as great conservation measures because the core breeding populations are protected and you can only fish the outside borders of the productive reefs. I found it very ironic that Texas Parks and Wildlife want to do the exact opposite, supposedly in the name of conservation. They want to take us off the roads which are like the fringe habitat of breeding populations and move us right into the heart of the habitat. Seems like the former arrangement where the bulk of hunting took place in the already compromised fringe habitat of the roadways was alot more environmentally sound.
