first look at the purple passion king.

shannon brown Sep 11, 2007 02:58 PM

I was lucky enough to get a pair of BHB purple passion kings this year. Its really hard to get a god pic of them. They really are purple and I can't wait to see them in another generation. It is basically a lavender hyperthrystic.
So yes Kerby, you were correct that it is a double homo and not a triple.I was under the impression that a bliazzrd and lavender was used?
looks like we will have to use a blizzard with these.LOL...

So.
Thats from DH lavender/melanistics?
Basically the same as blizzards only with lavender instead of albino?

Interesting how you can see the banding, just like you can on Blizzards.

Yep, the female has even more banding showing through.I am sure it will get better with age and with further generations.

Those are both awesome Shannon. I've never seen those before. Do you have any idea what morphs are used to produce those???

shannon brown Sep 12, 2007 08:48 AM

Thanks Ross,
I did answer that question in the first post but I will do it again.
They are a double morph of lavender and chocolate (hyperthrystic).

Shannon

RossCA Sep 12, 2007 07:46 PM

You didn't use the word "chocolate" so I was unsure what exactly it was. The word "hyperthrystic" is new to me. Thanks

Aaron Sep 12, 2007 09:06 PM

Don't you mean hypermelanistic? Hyperthrystic is not a word and I think you are thinking of hypererythristic which means increased red. Erythrins = red pigment hence,
an(=without) erythristic(=red) means lacking red.
Hyper(=increased) melanistic(=dark) means increased dark pigment.
Double homo Lavender and hypermelanistic should create a purple snake since the dark pigment is increased and the lavender gene causes dark pigment to turn lavender.

RossCA Sep 16, 2007 01:34 AM

I was thinking the same but wasn't sure. I think he messed up.

Kerby... Sep 12, 2007 07:23 AM

I also like the Lavender eyes.

you're right about them not looking the same in the photos...
when you showed them to me, they were way more purple than you see here.

I was hoping you'd post them.... I'd heard of them for several years but had never seem them myself.

Awesome animals Shannon! Congrats on that!

Thanks Byron, Yeah they really are purple and I am sure with another generation they will just get better. I pretty stoked to have them and Brian told me that he has let two pairs go over the pond but this is the first pair let go in the states. I am sure kerby will be producing them in a year or two and we will see more in the near future.

BHB really needs to get back on the "internet herping" boat. The old site was awesome, and I still can't believe that rumors of this morph have been going around for several YEARS now and this is the first ones I've laid eyes on.

Awesome find shannon, I wish I could see the purple in person!

Kerby... Sep 13, 2007 11:53 AM

I have heard of them for a couple of years but without pics. When I talked to Brian earlier this year he hadn't taken any pics. A couple of weeks ago when I talked to Brian he still hadn't taken any pics. He does need to get his website up and with current pics. I also know he is a busy guy.
