Wacky Sables!

AnthonyCaponetto Sep 11, 2007 07:49 PM

This clutch just hatched and I had to post. This is why I like the "subtle" morphs. You never know when they'll produce something not so subtle.

Their mom is a really light colored "normal" that throws light colored babies with aberrant patterns, so I figured it would be neat to see what happens when you plug the sable into that.

Here's a female.

Another female. This one's really neat in person.

Same female as above...

The next two are a set of twins...both female.

This one is nuts!

Probably the least aberrant of the clutch, but killer color.

Here are what I guess would be the "normal" ones...

The pattern on the sables is wicked cool, especially when you can see it! The "hollowed out" alien heads remind me of the so-called Jaguar ball pythons. For some reason, all of the ones I have (including my original male) have granite markings too. The pattern was honestly what attracted me to them...the dark part is cool, but not nearly as cool as the pattern (IMO).

And the super sable's pattern is just killer...add that light color and I can't even imagine how cool a super would look.

I think a ghost sable and ghost super sable will be insane...lots of that "frosty" grey color.

I think those are much cooler than what the sable usually looks like.

I never really saw the need to get into the sable project but Those are some sables I would buy!!!

The sable is the Super of the genetic granite correct? Or are they not related? I want a sable so bad now those guys are amazing.

AnthonyCaponetto Sep 12, 2007 10:05 AM

Nope. There's a sable and a super sable. The ones I posted are just sables, not supers. About the closest thing you can compare the sable to is the chocolate/super chocolate project...it's kinda like comparing a cinnamon pastel to a black pastel. Different, but same.

The granite markings are just something extra that all of mine have for whatever reason. It's actually pretty surprising to me that the granite markings were passed on to all six of the sable offspring my male produced this season. I didn't think that was part of the genetics since not all sables have that, but I guess it is with these.

Thanks again, everyone!

Can you post pics of your sable male(the father) and maybe of a super sable if you have any pics of them.

RaulGomez Sep 12, 2007 10:09 AM

Its good to see that some people have faith in the Sable project...

There are a couple of combos in the making that will really kick a$$.

The sable is a must have morph.... just like the yellow belly. They are going to be the key to a lot of killer combos..

Congrats on the killer snakes

Very nice. Selective breeding at it's finest. I have to agree with Raul about the upcoming sable crosses. The crosses are going to be impressive.
