4 mth old Cali King won't eat

Diate Sep 12, 2007 11:06 AM

I've got a cali king that was eating f/t pinkies and fuzzies for the breeder but hasn't eaten anything for me since I brought him home 4 weeks ago. He ate right before I picked him up.

Important info:
aprox 4 mths old
in a 10 gal tank
papertowel substrate
waterbowl
hide
Mice are f/t and I tried different ways of thawing

He strikes at the mouse, hisses, and then drops it. He is obviously agitated by the mice. I have moved him to a low traffic part of the house. I currently have 3 corns and a sinaloan as well as several lizards so I'm not new to keeping herps. This is the only snake I've ever had proplems getting to eat.

Sometimes with my Cal King I would insert a small nail through the brain of the thawed out mouse, and it usually triggered a better feeding response. Not sure why your king isn't eating, if he isn't sick and you have all the basics covered, he should come around and start knocking them down. Good luck.
