Axanthic het Hypo

RandyRemington Sep 12, 2007 01:22 PM

That is very cool! Mind sharing more info on how your male was produced (i.e. was he a known possible het hypo and what hypo line) and what you produced to prove him (i.e. what hypo line he was bred with)?

I was worried that the lack of a true ghost so far might indicate some linking between some of the axanthic mutations and hypo but your guy would tend to indicate that will not be a problem.

Thanks

Sorry, guess my reply timed out and ended up as it's own thread. This was for RegiusCo in the Axanthic thread.

Randy, as crazy as it sounds, we bred the VPI Axanthic to a 2001 wild type we've been working with for multiple generations to make more Het-Axanthic and hatched 0.1 Orange Hypo Het-VPI Axanthic and 0.1 Het-VPI Axanthic possible Het-Hypo, 4 other eggs in this 2007 clutch did not make it.

We also have 2005 Het-VPI Axanthic possy Het-Hypos produced from this sire that have the size to breed this coming season along with a bunch of 2006 and 2007 possible DH's were raising. Interestingly enough, we also have a bunch of Mojave, Spiders and Pastels that were produced by the female wild type lineage.

Unfortunately, we got the VPI Axanthic in a trade and cannot trace back his origin. It will be fun over the next few years proving out all these females we held back

Thanks for asking
