Striped black rats?

phiber_optikx Sep 12, 2007 04:47 PM

I see 2 adds for albino striped black rats in the classifieds. I have never heard of this morph before in the black rats. Is it new or is someone making a mistake? I am pretty sure that 1 of the adds is a striped snow corn....

I am told that on the Outter Banks of N.C. the Black Rats show stripes, and Gulf Hammock Grays have them, so it could be the real deal, but then again it may just be a bunch of mutts cooked up in some basement breeding project. I would bet on their being mutts, but that is just me.

I talked to Jim Brumley about these snakes a few years ago, as he produces them every year. He said at some point way back there may have been something else mixed in, so they aren't 100% pure black rat. At least that is how I remember it. Regardless they are sharp looking ratsnakes.

Take care,

I'm wondering why(or how) he doesn't know if there "MAY" have been something else in there!........hmmm

Sound like a "handed-down" story he got from whoever he originally got them from!

I see two different sellers with two very different looking snakes. One has a pair that look to be ratsnakes while the other has a lone pic of a snake eerily like a snow striped corn..
