O/T Who would'a thunk...

natsamjosh Sep 12, 2007 09:06 PM

... the federal gov't would have processed my Indigo snake permit in less time than it takes to get my cage shipped?! Who says the government is slow! So now I have my permit, but no cage for my new Eastern Indigos! I never expected this scenario. Anyway, hopefully I'll have some pics to post next week.

Here are a couple crocodilian pics I dug up. (Sorry, not sure
of the species.)

Thanks,
Ed

It took 6 1/2 weeks from the time I sent money from my pay-pal account to "his" to get my rack so who did you order your cage from out of curiosity?

I ended up ordering from A.P. The customer service lady was the friendliest person I've ever dealt with, and she was very responsive. She said it would take 3-4 weeks, and this is now the third week. I may try to e-mail them seeing if they can expedite the order, I'm very anxious!

Wow, 6 1/2 weeks??? Hopefully the rack was worth the wait.

so I plan on building my own lol but I'm gonna do it like Dave with some Iris cb110 tubs measuring at 40x16x6 and the other rack can be my q-rack so it all works out but my racks will be 10 times heavier so that is a trade off but I think I can make it perfect to serve my needs so it's all good and A.P. 1/2 thick you can't go wrong

I only have one AP rack thus far, but I now swear by them! Their customer service is spectacular, and went way above and beyond my expectations. I got my rack within the time frame they said, and it has worked perfectly for me. It was super easy to assemble and wire up. The tubs slide without binding, and the tolerances are so good I have no fear of escapes. Their prices are very reasonable in my opinion, compared to other commercial racks I have seen.

The real test will be when I purchase their hatchling rack. The tolerance has to be very close for tiny babies, but not so close as to bind... I'm very interested to see them for myself. I think they will be at the Tinley Park show, so I can "test drive" the tubs before I buy.

I highly recommend these guys to anyone!!

Aubrey,

Thanks for sharing, that is encouraging. I got a really good
feeling about AP when the customer service lady responded to
my e-mails within a day. And she answered (not bs'ed) all my questions about heating, dividing the cage (they have a removable divider), etc. And I also found the price to be better than some of the other recommended cage sellers.

Good luck with the hatchling rack.

Thanks,
Ed

Aubrey,

Very soon I will be buying a premade rack and here are some interesting pricing schemes.

RBI= $63.75 per drawer. With Shipping and tubs, pre assembled

Boaphile = $67.80 per drawer. With Shipping and tubs, pre assembled

AP = $54.28 per drawer. With Shipping and tubs (Tubs from target and shipping included), Requires asembly.

These are from the 3 companies I am looking at, AP has the best deal hands down and this is because of shipping. My main concern with the racks is safety, could you tell me how the AP racks hook up? Or if you wouldn't mind taking a few pictures it would be greatly appreciated. What tools did you need? I am leaning toward RBI or AP but didn't want to deal with the install, unless it is as easy as they say..

Some other questions if you have the time, did you get belly heat? And what temps is the rack holding at? And what is the room temp you keep the rack in. Sorry I have allot of questions and I know most of the companies have these answered but cant hurt to get an outside opinion.

No problem, I'll be happy to answer your questions.

You only need a screwdriver to assemble tha AP racks. I did get the belly heat option and they use a very durable heat cable for heat (at least for the model I chose, not sure if they use the same cable for bigger tubs and cages). They have a groove cut into the plastic that the cable sits in, and this groove has a lip on it so the cable won't pop out and get in the way. The cable runs from the top shelf down to the bottom, and the plug comes out of the bottom corner. It does a really good job of holding temperature. My warm side is around 86 and the ambient room temperature is 75.

I'll try and get some pictures taken so you can get a better idea. Hope this helps!

I have/had two AP hatchling racks 45 tubs each. Bought them second hand so can't speak to AP's customer service, only the racks themselves. The came with about 55 drawers total, not fully populated. As I understand you're supposed to supply your own drawers anyways. One was belly heat, the other back heat. Needing to clear out space, I opted to sell the back heat one before I ever used it. Sold it w/out any tubs at a show. Went quickly for more than half of what I paid for the pair w/tubs I have used the other one for baby BRB's and it works just fine, nice tight gaps w/out being too tight and sticking. Two seperate head cords so I was able to only power up half since I didn't need all 45 slots. Good rack, nothing bad to say about it at all!!!!!

the 4 foot cage. 4 foot by what x what and does it have heat cable or flexwatt? What is the price if you don't mind me asking or you can e-mail me? take care
Bob

natsamjosh Sep 13, 2007 07:27 PM

Hi Bob,

I sent a PM with the prices, since I didn't want to have my post yanked. The cage is 4' x 2' x 15", and I got a (removable) divider so I can put the pair of snakes in that one enclosure for now.
They installed the flexwatt as I requested (underneath the cage along the back, spanning across the both sides of the divider)

It's the T10 model, for anyone else interested.

Thanks,
Ed
