Early inverted basking?

RoswellBoa Sep 12, 2007 11:21 PM

I placed my male het albino ball with my 2000g normal female about four weeks ago. Although he is mature and I cooled him for 2 months, I did not witness any lockups or ovulation...

The female went into full blue 5 days ago, and has been laying sideways...

If she is gravid, is it normal for females to lay sideways so early? Could I have missed the mating of these two?

4 weeks is not enough time to mate, develop follicles, ovulate, and become gravid. It usually takes many months.

Jen's right, and besides inverted laying is often done by both sexes.

Laying inverted by itself really does not mean anything. I have seen males and hatchlings do it. I know the hatchlings aren't gravid

Look for other signs.
