I have found that the best way to tame them is to handle them like you are totally unafraid of them. If they strike do not back off if they bite do not jerk or flinch. If they want to chew on you just let them. They soon learn that striking and biting does not make you go away or leave them alone. This is really easy with a little BRB. The bite of a little BRB is about on a level with the scratch from a kitten. It may produce a little more blood but it is less painful. After they get bigger taking the bites is not quite as easy.
Good luck,
Jeff
>>What methods does everyone use to calm down a biter? I just got my first BRB, and she is fiestier than anything else I've ever had. That isn't saying much, but... When I got her, she was still cool from the shipping, so she wasn't fiesty at first. After she warmed up some, she took a wild strike. After being in her new cage for a little while, I stuck my hand in to get it over with, and she took the bait. Since then I've been able to pull her out of the cypress (she likes to bury herself), and play the ever growing tree branch with her (hand after hand after hand....ad nausium). She hasn't struck at me yet since she got me, but it doesn't mean that she doesn't want to. I just fed her today, so it'll be atleast until late tomorrow when I try to handle her again.
