how old is my aft?

alieliza Aug 21, 2003 01:55 PM

I picked up my first african fat tail at the white plains show in July, and i got my hands on what seemed like the only one in the place. I was looking for a baby, and the one i found seemed a little larger than what i wanted. The man i bought him from told me he was six months old. Im not sure though, cause he seems a little big for being only six months old. He is 4 and a half inches from snout to vent, and seems to be a healthy size with a nice tail. I dont really know much about how to tell how old they are and how big they should be at what age, so i figured id ask.
thanks

I would say thats about 4 to 6 months old..
here is a juvie I have that was hatched end of May.
Dont recall the exact date. My first fat tail hatched april 13th then they all followed that. This will give you an idea of size since hes on my hand. Does your seem as big or bigger?

he probably seems about that big maybe a little bigger. I was just thinking that he was older, and the guy told me six months cause i was looking for a young one. like i said i have really no concept of how big they should be and at what age. Its just that i see these little teensy leo's at petco (i know, i know, petco is bad) and they seem so small and it seems like there is no way they can get that big in six months. but i guess i was off.
thanks

When fully grown they can make it to 11 or 12 inches in length.
I sold an adult male who was 89 grams and 12 inches long.
One of my adult females is about that size and we named her "Heffer" hehehe. When we take her out we say moooo baby move that big butt lol
