Xmas Male...

Man, if I saw that snake in the road I'd "pop a cog" That's my favorite phase of all the Alterna. I have cruised the Christmas range almost exclusively every time I've been out West and the only thing that I have seen that even closely resembles a Grayband is the Trimorph. Oh well, maybe one day. Put me on the list for when the breed. That is if you would sell any offspring from that male.Great animal!!!!

If I saw one I honestly think I would vomit. A buddy caught a real nice black and orange male about 2 years ago next to a large boulder. He had been looking around the same rock for many years. Those are my favorites as well. Jet black and either red or orange. We have another female that is probably going to go full on black with a darker orange/red.
Shores may have some xmas males that are from the craig h boodline. Of course Rock Canyon may have some as well. I haven't spoken with them since the last lovely phone call...
Best Wishes,
Steven Owens
Thanks for the info on the other Breeder/dealers. I'll check with L.Briggs about his potential offspring. Lovely phone conversation???? I geuss the cat is out of the bag.

My comment about the phone conversation.

This was my favorite from the Xmas's. I wish he was still around as a breeder but that was 30 years ago....Maybe I will see one again someday! They look like isolated brilliant orange blotches moving across the road. I can't say that I've ever seen anything more thrilling on the road (well, there was this girl one time....).
I hope you breed this one and get lots of the black and bright orange offspring!
Cheers,
Henry W.

277 Female

277 Male

Great Stuff!! Love the Hueco!
I hatched out this Loma male that looks amazingly similar to your male... Bow Tie and all!
~ Mike

That male looks awesome. I was very very lucky to have received those two (277) animals sight unseen. I got them last year from Rick Blair as yearlings. I also got 2 Junos from him as well. You should see the Junos. Man I love Alterna. I just don't know how you do it. I am gonna have to figure out how to cross that bridge when I got Alterna hatching all over the place... The dilemna-How do you sell them when they look that good!!!!
Thanks for the post and the picture.

Choosing what to keep and what to sell is very tough.. I definetly sold several this year that i would have loved to hang on to and raise up.... But, you just can't keep them all...
I am keeping a few including this Loma female.. She has really nice orange bands, She is deep in shed in this pic.. I will post up another pic of her after she sheds out..
~ Mike Russo

There's no way I could sell one like that. Now in a couple of years probably be eating my words... Hard choices.. Very hard choices.
Mike, where did your line originate from? Did anyone from your area get any animals from Gerry Salmon?
Best Wishes,
Steven Owens
The hatchling in my last past post came from my Black Cap Loma female (top pic) that was produced by Randy Wright paired with a W/C loma male (bottom pic) that was cought by Don Soderberg.
Funny you should mention Gerry Salmon... The very first Gray Band i ever owned (back in the early 90's) came from Gerry.. Actually my first 5 or 6 Alterna came from Gerry... I have pic's of all of them but they are not digital photos..

Extreme North Sandersons (pecos county)... Lance and I produced these this year... yeah for us...

How many people are actually producing Huecos now? I have one pair that might go next year, but I would like to add a few more to my collection.
Several folks in South Texas/Houston area. Severl in California. We could produce them if we had an adult male. That is the problem here in DFW. Everyone has females... go figure...
One person here has 3 females and a male that needs some enzyte or something.

Steven,
Great looking snakes. I like the Sanderson female alterna phase with pinstripes. The Hueco is really a spectacular snake too. In 3 years you guys will have quite a breeding colony! I look forward to seeing the snakes you produce in the future.
Tom
Those are just some of the stuff. We need another photo session to get some more. I will be the first to admit that I take LOUSY pictures. But the snakes are awesome. We should have N sanderson, Gaps, Crockett County's for next year. With a big emphasis on 'SHOULD'... you know how it goes. If we could find an adult Hueco Male then maybe some of those. I have always had so much fun collecting and now somewhat shifting to breeding. It was real fun watching everything emerge from the eggs.
