Frog Webcam!

SlickAle Aug 21, 2003 02:05 PM

Hey everyone, I just got MSN 6, so now I have a webcam capability! If you guys have MSN 6 and message me, I'll start up a webcam conversation and you can see my pacman frog in all her burrowed glory. I'm feeding her today, around 4-5pm. She's still young, so you'll see her stalking the crickets. My email address is bigwillym@hotmail.com if you want to add me to your contacts list.

I'm probably going to have a streaming cam site up, if i could only find a way to do it and a web host. Right now through msn I can only get a frame a second, but if I get a good host I can do up to 15-50. I'm also going to get some new reptiles that are more active, maybe a second webcam for them. Happy herping

Most webcams are not streaming because of the costs associated. You have to pay for the bandwidth. Most often cams are a certain number of frames in a given period of time so the use of bandwidth is not going overboard. I have in the past used a webcam that updated pictures about once every 5-15 mins. Most of the time my critter just slept or did nothing, so it wasn't really exciting. I am working right now on a frog cam, but need to make adjustments to the cage to view such a tiny frog which is hard to see as it is.

Basically, streaming video requires alot of bandwidth to be used which will cost you alot more than it is worth for people who keep critters.

Yea, I know. But I'm still having the msn webcam. It's free, but it does slow my internet loading.
