pic of the Cage I built

tragic8ball Sep 14, 2007 05:15 PM

This used to be an old sugar glider cage made of 2x2s that were STAPLED together and covered in metal screen with one door. It was ugly and wobbly.

I removed all the screen
cleaned, reinforced, stained & sealed it.
added a floor in the center & ceiling on the top section
added a door on the bottom section
added plexiglass on the sides and doors
put new screen on the back
added latches and locks
installed lights connected to a timer
installed radiant heat panels connected to a helix thermostat

added bedding furniture water and added snakes

woke up at 5 am to find what appeared to be an empty cage
removed both snakes that were wedged between the heat panels and the ceiling
removed heat panels from inside of cage
broke one tab off a heat panel in the process

and will soon be hooking up the heat on the back of the cage where they cant climb on them.

Looks good but I would get rid of the mesh on the back and use plexi for the back as well.

lol well the locks are more to keep the snakes from pushing on the door and unlatching the latches

I would not suggest using those locks for security
but they happen to fit my need and they look decent
