Swollen eye

norristhenut Sep 14, 2007 08:09 PM

One of my Eastern males has a swollen eye, swollen shut. I can't get to the vet till monday, I put a little cod liver oil on his eye. Is this a good thing? I read somewhere that it was used on a turtles eye and it helped. I figure a small dose can't hurt that much as cod liver is good for all kind of things.

Thanks for the replys

Try a nice soak in tepid bathwater.
Keeping them hydrated can go a long way to keeping the eyes open.
Low humidity is one reason why they have eye problems. Other reasons are different types of infection but for now until you can get to the vet soaking won't hurt anything.
One little drop of cod liver oil probably won't hurt anything but soaking in a bath may do more good than that will.
Let us know what happens.
