Boa Temps.

jrphd Sep 15, 2007 08:13 AM

So I have my cool temp gun, which does a great job of measuring the cage temps. at different spots. Wondering though, what is the expected temp. range of the actual snake? How warm should they be at basking and when chilling out in the coldest part of the cage?
thanks all,
Jon

Mine run body temps in the low 80's. Mid 80's after a meal, when they're hugging the warm spot.

Temp guns dont/wont reflect "true" core temps

understood. But they are more accurate than just measuring the substrate, no? Reason why I ask is my juvi. boa was on the cool side of the cage this AM, and there's been a cold front bringing our house temps. down, and he measured 74. He knows where the hot spot is, but is the cold spot to cool for him? HE is more of a high altitude boa...
