I bred my male Pied to two female hets this year. This was their first time breeding for me. I palpated both of them before they laid and thought my odds of getting a Pied or two from nine eggs was pretty good. The first female gave me three eggs and one slug, the other gave me two eggs and three slugs. They were the only slugs I got this year and I was bummed it happened on these clutches.
Well these eggs started hatching lasted week and I wound up with five Pieds out of the five remaining eggs. I'm not sure what the odds are for hitting 100% on two clutches from homozygous to het but they've got to be pretty long. In any event, I was really excited to hatch these out. The other two egg clutch is pipping today. I'll post pics of them when they're out.
